Let Go is what started it all. It was the first song I recorded in order to start my solo project Chris And The Other Girls and it was the perfect song to get some attention! The guitar claping that is supposed to be the beat of the track was recorded, because I had no place to record a drumset! And it's probably also the thing that made this song so popular. Before even thinking about releasing the first album, we made a incredibly cheap video for Let Go and that set the start to many more, as I loved adding a second layer to a song! While recording other material for the first album I decided to bring out an EP first to get some more extra time thinking about the album and still having a CD to tour with! That's how Let Go was made, most of it recorded in my bedroom.
After that first single, we also shot videos for the songs Lullaby and I Forgot The Plan. A lot of touring was done with this CD and many many great memories are associated with it. These are the songs where fast drums mix with the upright bass, where piano meets the banjo and the guitar flirts with the accordion. It's rough and I hope you'll like it

Info from the old website:
Let Go was the really first song i had written in early 2004 after deciding that i definetely wanted to start a solo project! I had been a member of the punk rock band Dressy Vagabonds for six years, but rehearsing, live shows and everything got a lot harder, because of the huge distance between us, them being in Bolzano/Italy, me living in Vienna/Austria after moving here.
After being in such an amazing band that really taught me how wonderful being in a band and playing music could be, I didn't want to be a part of a different band as I knew it couldn't get any better. Besides it really would have felt like cheating on those amazing guys lukas, fabian and kowalsky, if i started a new band with new members as they were and still are everything to me! The other thing was that I had absolutely no idea who to play with as I didn't know any musicians when I moved to Austria. All of these thoughts really led to the decision to start my solo project Chris And The Other Girls.
From 2004 till the release of Let Go many songs had been written and i was ready to make a whole album. I went into the studio with some friends aka. other girls for an album pre-production to see where the session would lead us to. Alex 'Fire' Toman, a musician i really admire, was supposed to be my co-producer and recorded the pre-production tracks! As we left the studio after ten days I was so sure about the quality of some songs, and it could dissapoint me to release a great album without anybody buying it since Chris And The Other Girls not popular at all back then.
That was when the idea first hit me of recording an EP with songs i didn't wanna put on the album anyway just to have a CD to tour with and to catch some people's attention before releasing the actual full length. Albachiara, Go On With The Show and Walk Beside You were the songs which i didn't really feel like putting on the album as they were kinda old and not so much 'me'. As I felt there should be more songs on the CD, as well as more new ones, I wrote I Forgot The Plan and Lullaby, which i still consider to be the tracks i most love on the CD.
After the pre-production for the album I had realized that I needed to be the only producer even though I really loved the ideas and input of Alex, but I just really felt like doing everything on my own. That's when the actual work for the CD Let Go began: We had many recording sessions in different places, most things where done in my living room in Vienna and the whole recording process came really naturally as there was no stress and nobody telling me what to do! After recording, mixing and mastering the record i held the cd in my hands and was really happy about the outcome: the goal of making a compact cd with a lot of dust, dirt, honesty and nice songwriting was achieved (in my opinion) and the songs I first feared wouldn't sound that appealing (Go On, Albachiara, Walk...) really suprised me: after the re-arrangement and new recording, they turned out to be catchy tunes with a nice dirtyness to them. At the end I'm happy with Let Go and I still listen to it once in a while.
I first wanted to talk about what the songs are about, but in the end i think that all lyrics are kinda clear and there's no explaining necessary. Let Go is probably the only song that could need some extra info, but I don't wanna destroy the stories some people see behind the song and that's why I never talked about the real meaning in Let Go.
